I got two copies of the book Gamescenes in the mail yesterday, of which I'm a part. Apparently I got the deluxe exhibition edition, or at least that's what the letter accompanying the books said anyway.

I wasn't sure what to expect but it turned out very nice. It's a big book, with lots written about every work in it. Many pictures accompany each artist's entry.

The write up about me was pretty well done, except for a few errors. One it said I'm originally from Minnesota, which I'm not. They also showed one of my works twice on successive pages. I found that a bit odd.

There was also a lot of comparison in my write up to Andy Warhol. This isn't the first time someone has made that comparison and I'm not exactly sure I'm comfortable with it. I think comparisons like this are thrown out a bit too much. It's like in football when they liken some new rookie QB to Brett Favre. Not only are they not Brett Favre, but there's no way they could be. But people like to make the comparison anyway. Not that I'm really complaining.

Anyway the book turned out to be a good overview of the current game art scene. I hope they do more, I think there's a lot more of it out there than even this book lets on (and it's pretty comprehensive).
