Found this fun little link today for people who can't pronounce anything from Wisconsin called Miss Pronouncer. Gives you examples of how to pronounce certain WI words so you don't look like an idiot.

Having lived there most of my life these things come naturally but I can see how people could mispronounce Oconomowoc or Ashwaubenon. Hell, people can't even pronounce Shawano, let alone Potawatomi. What's worse is those who can't even pronounce Wisconsin (there's no "e" in it people).

What's also nice is it's not just larger towns, it also has pronunciations for small towns as well, like Winneconne, and people too. It also has some fun facts on the state. I never knew that "Wisconsin" is the English spelling of a French version of an Indian name for the river that runs through the state. Now days I suppose they'd just use Babblefish.

I hate when Wisconsinites can't even pronounce wisconsin right, when they do it with an E... Or on TV fiction, you know they're not from WI even though, they're supposedly so, when they mispronounce it.

I have an idea for the DS, but I'll tell you later. not like it matters, cuz you know it'll never be made, but it's sorta like a Small Multiplayer Local RPG...

Imagine a tabletop RPG combined with the wifi capabilities of DS, utilizing the mechanics in code, instead of literally rolling, having maps, and models of beasts your fighting, but actually playing the game like regular RPG, but tools from a Computer RPG... Graphics, etc..

Get the idea?

Thoughts? Also I finally made it onto the PvP rankings again (that wasn't very hard, just AB a couple times, and BAM im' in)

I've thought of something like that as well. It would be cool but sevearly limiting in popularity. Though I actually like rolling dice. ;)

What was your rank before? I didn't move up or down it seems. BTW, if you didn't hear, Chato left the guild, went with Trog to Burning Season. Blake was giving them crap. Trog already is going after Onyxia. He's progressing way too fast I think. I'm wondering how long they'll take the big guild life. Like Blake and I said, we've both been there, and gave it up because it's just not fun to run the same instance every week for 10 hours for 6 months to get your set. More fun to dick around w/ friends.

Anyway, we did set up a channel called "dopplegang". Just do /join dopplegang and Chato, Dennis and Rob are all on it. Also download a mod called Persistance of Chatiness. That lets you hit the return key to type into chat channels instead of having to hit /1 and the like every time.

Oh, I also got into Hyjal and took some pics. I put them on the guild website.

"Butte des Morts"

Now really, that's where I lived in WI (next door to Oshkosh, my hometown and home base for my first 10 years) before moving to ATL. If I had a nickel for every time someone pronounced it as a variation of "Butt dess Morts" I'd be a millionaire.

part of the problem is also that plenty of towns are rightfully pronounced unlike their spelling, when taken from foreign words. not even speaking of the american accent we all say 'san francisco' with, but for example there's a town in new jersey called 'buena vista.' how do you think you say it? byoona. and of course there's versailles in kentucky, which is pronounced ver-sales. =)
